: Birds of Africa was founded in 1980. Since then the birds have become sought after as collector’s items both locally and internationally. Consistent with the commitment to the conservation of the environment, the wood sourced to create the birds is from locally ‘manmade’ forests. Although this wood is harder and more difficult for carving, it has a distinctive grain that adds to the creation of each bird’s individuality. Visitors to Birds of Africa are invited to watch the craftsmen during their creations. |
