: Birds of Africa was founded in 1980. Since then the birds have become sought after as collector�s items both locally and internationally. Consistent with the commitment to the conservation of the environment, the wood sourced to create the birds is from locally �manmade� forests. Although this wood is harder and more difficult for carving, it has a distinctive grain that adds to the creation of each bird�s individuality. Visitors to Birds of Africa are invited to watch the craftsmen during their creations.
